Turn your ashes into a beautiful expression of nature

Turn your ashes into a beautiful expression of nature

Did you know that you can grow into a tree after you die? Bios Urn is a funerary urn made from biodegradable materials. Inside the urn there is a pine seed, which can be replaced by any other seed or plant you would like. When you plant the seed, It nourishes and absorbs the nutrients from the ashes. The urn itself is made from coconut shell and contains compacted peat and cellulose. It’ll grow to be your lost loved one. Whether it’s your pets or someone in your family Bios Urn turns death into a beautiful transformation and a marvelous expression of nature. It almost makes me want to die already, I always wanted to be a tree. It is long-lasting and independent. Thanks to its manufacturing process, Urna Bios does not “expire”, and as such, its use is not bound by any specific period, epoch or place. Once the remains have been placed into the urn, it can be planted and then the seed germinates and begins to grow. We now have the option of turning cemeteries into forests filled with beautiful trees– it is a little bit less old school but way more practical. This could be a great way to help sustain the environment, contribute to the well-being of the ecosystem, and to know that the remains of your loved ones will live be to a unique, flawless piece of nature. It is very sustainable. Both the product and its function imply an environmental, social and economic improvement for a growing problem, overpopulation and metropolis growth. Wouldn’t the world would be better if we had trees...
Attention Future Designers!

Attention Future Designers!

The graduates of the Academy of Art University showed their fashion pieces in the annual FBA (Fashion Business Architecture) Graduate Fashion Show demonstrating the talent they have and show what this university has to offer. This event had all sorts of fashion statements, from small and cute to big and bold. Each designer had a unique way in designing their clothes, which made them stand out and demonstrated why they deserved to be in this fashion show. At the beginning of the event you had the chance to socialize with everyone there while the models and designers got ready for the runway. The event took place at an exclusive club in San Francisco. They had the footage of last year’s fashion show on many of the monitors. People brought pads and pencils to take notes on the pieces of each collection since they were only showing the best of the best. Before each collection was shown the designer would walk out and say a few words about their pieces. There were breaks between designer collections so that critics and press could take notes. At the end of the show you could see the pieces up close and speak to the designers. All sorts of food and beverages were served at the event. This type of excitement and luxury of having the attention of your own work could only be given to the graduates of Academy of Art University, at this school you can demonstrate your talent and show your work at an event like this or at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Show in New York! My experience at this...

#Hellaphotography Aftermath

Post Show– Thanks to everyone who came and supported me and Jeffrey! The show was a success, A LOT of people came. I didn’t really expect a lot of people to come, I was surprised. I couldn’t really believe what was happening. I couldn’t believe the amount of people who came and actually looked at our photos. I was expecting people to just do one lap of the photos then leave but that didn’t happen at all. People were actually engaged with the photos. People asked questions about the photos and wanted to get to know us, It was great for me since I’m a shy person, it pushed me to talk to them. Hosting a show was a great experience, but it was stressful. There was so much planning that was needed and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the people at Massive. In the beginning when we only had blank walls, I was pretty skeptical about the display of the show. It was so blank and white and I felt the photos wouldn’t fill up all the space. We only had 4 – 5 days to prep (April 20th – 24th) and we had a complication half way, we had a friend come and paint #HELLAPHOTOGRAPHY for us. It took about 5 hours, but then the people who run the shop didn’t like it, so we had to repaint the wall with primer. But everything turned out great and the show helped boost my confidence for trying new things with photography. There were about 70 people who came. We had a DJ and few...

Could Virtual Reality Soon be in Your Living Room?

Could Virtual Reality Soon be in Your Living Room?

Virtual Reality has been thought of as futuristic technology that we will have when we have flying cars and floating TVs, but VR could be in your living room sooner than you think. VR gaming/video started with the Oculus Rift as it amazed many with its promise of ‘Virtual Reality.’ In late 2012 Oculus VR was posted on Kickstarter.com. The public saw its potential when the early developer headsets were showcased. Oculus VR (the Oculus Rift’s developer) was the only well known virtual reality developer for quite a while. Now, three years later, things have changed. Rather than Oculus VR continuing the steady walk to becoming the dominant VR developer, other companies have jumped on the opportunity to create the first consumer VR Headset. Companies such as Microsoft, Valve, Sony, Razer, Samsung, Google, and even Sega are working on creating consumer grade VR headsets. The race for VR is no longer just a dream– the public will soon have high quality movies and games in a virtual space to use. In March of 2014, Facebook bought Oculus VR for 2 billion dollars in stocks and cash, a price which has increased from the initial purchase. With Facebook buying Oculus, many are speculating that the company may use VR to transform the social media experience– but so far the focus has been on gaming and movies. Most recently, Valve Software announced that they will be working on a headset along with HTC, which they have deemed HTC Vive. HTC and Oculus aren’t the only companies working on promising headsets. Sony has been working on Project Morpheus, a Playstation 4 powered...
Wealth and Poverty: In the Eyes of a High School Student

Wealth and Poverty: In the Eyes of a High School Student

Last Friday a group of students at MetWest were given the opportunity to attend a lecture by Robert B. Reich, Professor, at the University of California Berkeley. His class, “Wealth and Poverty,” had a profound effect on my thoughts and feelings about economy, society, and my own life. There was so much to learn and I thank everyone who made this trip possible. This class was about what he likes to call, “Great Debates Over Education.” On his PowerPoint, he showed statistics of the American students’ math, reading, and science standardized testing grades and noted that the worlds’ richest and most powerful country had a lot of average and below average students. Another thing he mentioned is that he believes that what you earn, and what you learn are highly correlated. He explained different systems of education that effect the way people learn. My interest in economics has really developed in my 11th grade year. I started asking my teachers questions about the U.S market and my interest was peaked. I talked to many teachers and as they tried to explain, I became more and more involved in economics. I started reading about our economy and started discussing with teachers about how it has affected my life. In the housing market crash in 2008 my family lost their house. I didn’t really understand why, because, I was young, but now that I do, I want to be able to prevent the economy from taking my parents and my home away for the second time. I’m learning how we can be smarter about how we use and spend money. Being...
Hellcat or Hellbeast?

Hellcat or Hellbeast?

A 4 door sedan seen as a grocery-getter that can snap your neck at a simple push of the throttle. Yes, the one and only 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat. When you think about a four door sedan pushing 707 horsepower, you probably start thinking it’s something foreign and not something domestic. You are so wrong. The new and redefined Charger has a monstrous 6.2L Supercharged Hemi with all the potential of a track car, top speed maxing out at a 204 mph. Not only is it a powerful car, but it’s also a family car. You can fit your family in it and take them out for dinner or you can take it to the track and serve someone up as dinner for the beast. What’s better than a family car with a track car engine? Glad you asked. The best part of about the Charger is that you have a car competing with some of the most expensive sedans, it outclasses them performance wise, and it is faster than most BMW’s, Aston Martin’s, Porsche’s, and Jaguar’s. All those are the Sedan line of the companies. It’s also outclasses 3 out 5 Ferrari’s main car production line up. With all that has been said, a car with such high performance standards should sell at a much greater price, but they’re at the dealership for a...
